FAQs

What makes The Yodeler Motel unique compared to other places to stay in Red Lodge?

The Yodeler Motel is a charming, historic alpine-style lodge with a distinctly European flair. Built in 1909 as apartments for miners and converted to a hotel in1964; lovingly preserved, cozy comfort, and unbeatable location, just minutes from downtown Red Lodge and the scenic Beartooth Highway. It’s your basecamp for Yellowstone adventures, fly fishing, skiing, and more.

Is The Yodeler Motel pet-friendly?

Yes! We love four-legged travelers. We offer pet-friendly rooms for an additional fee and even provide a little welcome treat for your furry companion. Please let us know in advance so we can accommodate you properly.

How close is The Yodeler Motel to Yellowstone National Park?

We’re located just 68 miles from the northeast entrance of Yellowstone via the iconic Beartooth Pass, often called “the most beautiful drive in America.” Many of our guests make The Yodeler their overnight stop before entering the park or use it as a peaceful retreat after a Yellowstone adventure.

What amenities can I expect during my stay?

Each room is equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi, TV, mini-fridge, and a front porch to sit with a beverage and watch the world go by. We also offer motorcycle bike wash station, ample on-site parking, and direct access to Red Lodge’s shops, restaurants, and outdoor recreation.

When is the best time to visit Red Lodge and stay at The Yodeler?

It depends on your adventure! Summer brings hiking, fishing, motorcycling, and epic drives over the Beartooth Pass. Fall colors light up the mountainsides. Winter transforms Red Lodge into a ski town with powder days at Red Lodge Mountain. And spring? It’s quiet, scenic, and perfect for a peaceful getaway.

When Can I check in?

Check-in is officially 4:00 but if rooms are ready, we can get you in by 3:00 when our front desk host arrives. If you get here before then, you are welcome to take a load off and put your feet up in our lobby.

When are you staffed?

We’re a small, independently owned motel, which means you won’t find someone sitting behind the front desk around the clock. Our staffing hours are intentionally limited so we can keep the Yodeler independent, sustainable and groovy for years to come.

When we’re here, though, we bring it. Expect friendly faces, local recommendations and genuinely great hospitality. Our staffed hours vary by season and are posted in the lobby. If you’ll be arriving outside those hours, we’ll make sure you have everything you need for an easy self-check-in.

Summer: 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Winter: 3:30PM to 8:00 PM

I’m arriving after hours, what do I do?

An after hours check-in is no problem. Our staff will connect with you an hour before we close to make the necessary arrangements. Rest assured, we’ve done this countless times and you’ll be in good hands

Do you have Laundry on-site?

We don’t offer guet laundry but the Rock Creek Laundromat is two blocks away and open 24 hours.

I called and spoke to someone who does not work there on site, whats with that?

After staffed hours, our phones are answered by a professional hospitality support team. They’re not hiding somewhere in the motel—we’re open about the fact that we partner with them so a small, independent property like ours can still provide 24-hour assistance.

They can help make a reservation, modify an existing stay and answer many common questions. If something urgent happens on the property, they’ll assess the situation and contact the appropriate member of our local team. It’s one of the ways we combine the personal hospitality of a small motel with the dependable support you’d expect from a much larger operation.
